The 8th Leg of the 2016 edition of the Grossvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) kicked off in Blackpool on November 6th and is to come to an end on November 13th. The seaside town has been home for the GUKPT Main Event since the very beginning of the tournament, which has started about ten years ago. Currently, Blackpool has the reputation of one of the most popular stops of the GUKPT Series, which attracts hundreds of poker players every year.
This year, the GUKPT Blackpool Main Event features a guaranteed prize pool of £200,000. It will see its Day 1a start at 1:00 PM on November 10th. Day 1b is to take place on November 11th, while the second day of the Main Event is scheduled for Saturday, November 12th. GUKPT Blackpool Main Event Final Day is to take place at 12:00 PM on November 13th.
So far, apart from the 2016 edition of the tournament, there have been nine seasons of the GUKPT Blackpool Main Event. The first edition of the Circuit’s Main Event managed to gather a total of 353 players and featured a buy-in of £1,050. The event accumulated an overall prize pool of £353,000, and Paul Bracken was the crowned winner who took home a prize of £109,700. Brian Clarke topped the players base of 341 in the second edition of the series’ Main Event, getting a £96,500 portion of the £341,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The third edition of the GUKPT Blackpool Main Event was won by Priyan de Mel. The event gathered a players base of 287, and a guaranteed prize pool of £287,000 with the first-place prize amounting to £84,900. David Johnson was the fourth winner in a GUKPT Blackpool Main Event after he managed to outlast 245 opponents and took home the prize of £67,750 out of a guaranteed prize amounting to £246,000.
The fifth edition of the circuit’s Main Event in Blackpool gathered 262 players, but the crowned winner was only one. Andrew Peters received the first-place prize of £72,020. A total of 173 players took part in the next year’s GUKPT Blackpool Main Event, which was won by Simon Deadman who got the event’s title and a cash portion of £49,290. In its seventh edition, the GUKPT Main Event in Blackpool offered a guaranteed prize estimated to £226,000 and first-place prize of £53,000. The latter was won by Richard Trigg.
The last two winners in the series’ Main Event so far – Justin Astley and Jonny Gray – topped players bases of 171 and 275, respectively. Astley got £59,000 for his first position in the ranking, while Gray was granted with £69,050.
